This guide will walk you through using Magic Eden web swaps to trade cryptocurrencies (tokens). Our web swaps allow you to trade between two different tokens. Magic Eden supports both same-chain and cross-chain trading.
Setting up your trade
To begin, connect and sign into your Magic Eden account.
On the Magic Eden web swap page, you have two sections: "Pay" and "Receive".
Selecting "Pay" token
The "Pay" section specifies the token you currently hold and want to pay with. You can select the specific token you wish to pay with by clicking the dropdown menu next to the token icon in the "Pay" section.
This will open the "You Pay" page that lists the balance of all the tokens you currently hold in the selected wallet.
At the top, filter the list by blockchain or select a different wallet you wish to swap from. All wallets linked to your currently logged in Magic Eden account will show. You can use the search box to search for a specific token by name.
Selecting "Receive" token
The bottom "Receive" section specifies the token you wish to receive from trading the "Pay" token. You can select the specific token you wish to receive by clicking the dropdown menu next to the token/"Select" icon in the "Receive" section.
This will open the "You Receive" page. Here you can search for and explore tokens you wish to receive.
At the top, you can filter by blockchain and sort tokens by Market Cap, 24h Volume, and 24h % Change. You can use the search box to search for a specific token by name.
Selecting the receiving wallet address
Next you must confirm which wallet address the "Receive" tokens will be sent to. Click the "To:" dropdown menu in the "Receive" section. Any of the wallet addresses linked to your Magic Eden account that match the chain of the "Receive" token can be selected.
You can also input a custom address that is not one of your linked wallets. Select "Custom Address" from the "To:" dropdown menu. You will then see an input box where you can input the wallet address you wish to send to. The custom address must be an appropriate wallet address for the selected "Receive" token's chain.
Please double check and confirm the receiving address.
Select amounts
Now you will input the amount you wish to trade in the "Pay" section.
Type in the amount or select a preset amount of 25%, 50%, or 100% of your total token balance by clicking the appropriate buttons. The amount can be calculated by number of tokens or USD value.
Your "Receive" quote
After inputting the amount in the "Pay" section you wish to trade, a quote of how many "Receive" tokens you will receive will be shown, along with the Rate and Price Impact.
The quote updates every 5-10 seconds.
The Rate is the exchange rate your quote is based on.
The Price Impact is how much your swap directly affects a token's price. A high price impact can occur when there are not enough active buyers or sellers for a token (low market liquidity). Additionally, the larger the trade amount, the higher the price impact will often be. On tokens with low liquidity, even small trades can noticeably change the token's price.
Switching Swap pairs
Use the arrow icon next to preset options to switch the swap pairs
Configure swap settings
Click the adjustment icon to configure your swap settings. Here you can set the swap's slippage and priority fee. Refer to this article for more information.
Slippage is how much your final price can differ from the original quote.
Priority fees are the amount you are paying to confirm your transaction on the blockchain.
Executing the trade
When you are ready to begin the trade, click the pink "Swap" button.
Swap progress
After a trade is executed, your swap progress page will appear. This page includes details of the swap and gives you a live status update of the trade.
View swap history
You will see your swap activity in your History. Select the “History” tab. This will display a view of all swaps executed on Magic Eden from your active wallet.
Swap details
Clicking on an individual swap will show important swap details such as the token amounts Paid and Received, Status (Pending, Complete, Failed), Order ID, Source Transaction ID, Destination Transaction ID, and Time.
