How to Convert BTC to Spark BTC

Track your balances on desktop, then complete conversions in your connected wallet.

Updated this week

When you’re using Magic Eden on desktop, you can easily view your Bitcoin (BTC) and Spark BTC balances side by side. While the desktop app shows you your holdings, the actual conversion process happens inside your connected wallet (such as Magic Eden Wallet or Xverse).

This guide walks you through how to check balances on desktop, start a conversion, and then finish it in your wallet.

Check your BTC and Spark BTC balances on desktop

  • From the top navigation, select Bitcoin.

  • In your BTC details panel, you’ll see:

    • BTC (mainnet) balance

    • Spark BTC (Layer 2) balance

    • Actions: Send, Receive, Convert

💡 Desktop lets you track balances side by side, so you always know how much BTC and Spark BTC you have available.

Start a conversion from desktop

  • In the BTC panel select Details, then Add funds.

  • A message will appear prompting you to open your connected wallet (e.g. Magic Eden Wallet, Xverse).

  • This is because conversions themselves can’t be finalized in the desktop interface — they happen inside your wallet.

Complete the conversion in your wallet

  • Open your connected wallet when prompted, select Bitcoin.

  • Select the Convert and the direction of conversion:

    • BTC → Spark BTC, or

    • Spark BTC → BTC

  • Enter the amount, review the details, and confirm.

  • Once the Bitcoin transaction confirms, your Spark BTC balance will update in your wallet — and you’ll see it reflected back on desktop.

Key things to know

  • Desktop = balance + transaction history.

  • Wallet = where conversions actually happen.

  • Conversion is always 1:1 BTC to Spark BTC.

  • Minimum mainnet deposit: 10,000 sats.

  • Spark BTC keeps the same Bitcoin value but is faster and cheaper to use.
