If you've accidentally sent assets to an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) address on an unsupported blockchain network (for example: Binance Smart Chain, Arbitrum, or Optimism) using your Magic Eden Wallet, don't worry. This guide will help you understand how to recover those assets by importing your recovery phrase into a wallet that supports the network where your assets were sent.

Understanding EVM chains and addresses

Magic Eden Wallet currently supports Ethereum, Polygon, and Base as its EVM chains. All EVM-compatible blockchains use the same address format. This means that your Magic Eden Wallet address for Ethereum will be the same as your address for any other EVM-compatible chain, such as Binance Smart Chain or Arbitrum.

What happens when you send assets to an unsupported chain?

If you send assets to an unsupported EVM chain using your Magic Eden Wallet, the assets will not appear in your wallet because the wallet does not support that chain. However, since the address format is the same across all EVM-compatible blockchains, your assets are still safe—they are just not visible in the Magic Eden Wallet.

How to recover your assets

To recover your assets sent to an unsupported EVM chain, follow these steps:

Identify the unsupported chain

Determine which blockchain network your assets were sent to (e.g., Binance Smart Chain, Arbitrum, or Optimism).

Choose a compatible wallet

Select a wallet that supports the blockchain network where your assets were sent. Examples include MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or any wallet that supports multiple EVM chains.

Import your recovery phrase

Open your new wallet app (e.g., MetaMask or Trust Wallet). Select the option to "Import Wallet" or "Restore Wallet."

Enter the 12-word recovery phrase from your Magic Eden Wallet. This phrase will generate the same address on the new wallet as your Magic Eden Wallet, allowing you to access your assets.

Access your assets

Once you've imported your recovery phrase, your assets should appear in the new wallet under the appropriate network.

Important reminders

Never share your recovery phrase or private key

Keep your recovery phrase and private key secure at all times. Anyone with access to these can access your wallet and steal your assets.

Use caution when creating digital copies

If you must create a digital copy of your recovery phrase or private key, ensure it is stored securely and is not accessible to others.

If you accidentally send assets to an unsupported EVM chain, you can easily recover them by importing your recovery phrase into a compatible wallet. This process ensures that your assets remain safe and accessible. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team by clicking on the chat widget.
