Understanding Collection States

From badged to blacklisted.

Updated over 2 months ago

In this article, we will delve into four main collection states: Badged, Listed, Unlisted, and Blacklisted.

Badged collections

Badged collections are a special category of listed collections, recognized for their authenticity, significance, and good standing. They receive a badge awarded after an application process through Creator Hub and meeting specific criteria.

Badged collections are tradable and searchable, just like listed collections. On the profile page, they are prominently displayed with a distinctive pink badged tick. Similarly, the collection page showcases these collections without any warnings, and a pink badge is present in the header. AMMs and other marketplace features work seamlessly with badged collections, and the item details page is visible without any warnings.

For more details on the criteria for Badged collections, you can check out our dedicated article here.

Listed collections

Listed collections are those whereby the creator has applied for listing through Magic Eden's Creator Hub. Listed collections are tradable and searchable, providing users with full access to the marketplace.

On the profile page, listed collections have a dedicated grouping in the left-hand panel. When viewed on the collection page, no warnings are displayed in the header. AMMs and other marketplace features work seamlessly with listed collections, and the item details page is visible without any warnings.

Unlisted collections

Unlisted collections are existing collections made by creators who have not applied via Magic Eden's Creator Hub. These are still recognized as a collection through the on-chain First Verified Creator Address (sometimes referred to as Candy Machine ID) or Metaplex Certified Collection (MCC).

These collections are currently tradable, but they are not searchable. On the profile page, items from unlisted collections are grouped together under a single collection bucket. While they are visible on the collection page, a warning is displayed in the header. AMMs and other marketplace features do not function with unlisted collections. The item details page is visible, but users are cautioned with a "Do Your Own Research" (DYOR) warning.

If your collection is unlisted and you want to apply for listing, review this article.

Blacklisted collections

A Blacklisted collection typically houses items such as copymints, NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content, or collections that have been taken down due to a violation of our Terms of Service. Collections in this state cannot be traded directly, except for specific items accessible through the item details page (due to the on-chain nature of digital collectables).

Blacklisted collections are not discoverable or searchable, and neither the profile page nor the collection page will display them. Furthermore, AMMs (Automated Market Makers) and other marketplace features are disabled for blacklisted collections. While the item details page is visible, it comes with many restrictions.

Blockchain-specific variations

It's important to emphasize that these collection states primarily pertain to Solana collections. On Polygon and Base, collections are indeed eligible to receive the badge, in contrast to Bitcoin Ordinals or Ethereum collections.

Furthermore, please bear in mind that these collection states may undergo modifications in the future as our platform and blockchain ecosystems continue to evolve. If you ever have questions or seek further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to our dedicated support team.
