Understanding Derivation Paths and Compatibility Modes in the Magic Eden Wallet

Ensure seamless access to your assets by managing derivation paths in the Magic Eden Wallet.

Updated this week

This guide explains the official derivation paths and compatibility modes in the Magic Eden Wallet to help you manage and access your assets seamlessly.

What are derivation paths?

A derivation path is a structured sequence that guides your wallet to generate addresses and manage assets across different blockchains. When a seed phrase is imported, the derivation path ensures that each address is consistently derived, making it essential for accessing the same assets across multiple devices or wallets.

Compatibility modes in the Magic Eden App

The Magic Eden App offers a compatibility mode to support a variety of popular wallets, ensuring users can transition smoothly between different platforms. The following table provides the official derivation paths used within the app, allowing you to manage your BTC, EVM, and Solana assets accurately across wallet providers.

Important note for Magic Eden App users with previous SOL addresses

If your seed phrase was created in the Magic Eden Wallet and you use the Auto-Detect feature, the app may import a different Solana (SOL) address than previously used. To continue using your old SOL address, select Phantom as the "Previous Wallet" during the setup process. This will allow you to import and access the same SOL address used before the recent updates.

By understanding and correctly setting derivation paths and compatibility modes, you can ensure seamless access to your assets across BTC, EVM, and Solana within the Magic Eden Wallet.
